Moving to the New Chester Village
Q & A Fact Sheet

  1. Q. Will there be an open house before Residents move in?
    A. If at all possible, we will have more details closer to the end of construction.

  2. Q. Will family have any input as to which room their relatives will be placed?
    A. Residents will be placed according to their required level of care. This makes it difficult to accommodate special requests but we will do the best we can.

  3. Q. Is there family parking and outside gardens?
    A. Yes there is parking available behind the facility and a beautiful Enchanted Garden.

  4. Q. How close is Swiss Chalet and Wendy’s?
    A. Swiss Chalet is across the street and the nearest Wendy’s is at Warden & Eglinton.

  5. Q. When is the moving date? Are they on time for the opening date?
    A. The moving date will be sometime in August. As soon as we have the actual date we will let you know.

  6. Q. Will I be able to choose my own room?
    A. Due to care levels and type of room’s available, special requests may not be possible but we will do the best we can.

  7. Q. May I take my current furniture with me?
    A. You may take your current furniture with you.

  8. Q. Who is in charge of the moving arrangements?
    A. Chester Village will take care of all the moving arrangements.

  9. Q. What furniture will be provided in each room?
    A. Each room will have a bed, night table, a wardrobe and a lamp.

  10. Q. If we need to purchase new furniture, will we know in advance?
    A. Yes you may purchase new furniture if you want. Older existing pieces will be repaired and painted if you do not want to make a personal purchase.

  11. Q. How much notice will we receive before the actual move to the new building?
    A. You will receive 2 weeks notice.

  12. Q. Will we need to arrange for a moving van?
    A. No, Chester Village will take care of all the moving arrangements.

  13. Q. What is in the area around the new building?
    A. Handouts are available of all the exciting points of interest in your new neighborhood!

  14. Q. Will the same level of care exist in the new building?
    A. Yes, definitely

  15. Q. Will the rates go up?
    A. No, not unless you decide to upgrade to a private suite or the government changes the amount charged per room.

  16. Q. When can I see pictures of the new building?
    A. We have some pictures available now.

  17. Q. What floor will I be on? How do I find out?
    A. That information will be available by the end of May.

  18. Q. Will there be residents with dementia on my floor?
    A. No, there is a separate Dementia Resident Home Area in the new building.

  19. Q. Will there be more freedom to move around. Less noise i.e. bells ringing etc?
    A. Yes, there is lots of space in each Resident Home Area and a new communication system that will minimize the need to use a paging system.

  20. Q. Will I have the same care givers in the new building?
    A. If possible.

  21. Q. What kind of doors do we have in the lobby i.e. sliding doors?
    A. Yes, sliding wheelchair accessible lobby doors.

  22. Q. Will the bathrooms be wheelchair accessible?
    A. Yes, the bathrooms are very spacious with sliding doors.

  23. Q. Will there be a designated physiotherapy room where residents can go and exercise?
    A. Yes, it will be called the Wellness Center.

  24. Q. How big are the windows in the rooms?
    A. Please see attached information.

  25. Q. Do I have a choice which way my room faces?
    A. If possible.

  26. Q. How big are the rooms? How big are the lounges?
    A. Please see attached information.

  27. Q. How many elevators do we have?
    A. There are three elevators including the service elevator. Two dining rooms on each floor will minimize the use of the elevators.
